Charles "Charley" Schlipp

Charles "Charley" Schlipp was in charge of the pork rind division of Al Foss lures for years, and helped in both the design and manufacture of the pork rind attachments sold by Foss. Schlipp was also a lure designer. Two of his spinner designs were patented and utilized by Al Foss. He also designed and patented a fishing lure that resembles the Al Foss Sunny Bucktail and Dixie Wiggler.

Al Foss sold his company to American Fork and Hoe in 1929 and Charles Schlipp went to work for its True Temper Division. Three years later he left American Fork and Hoe and started his own business. His Company was located at 2601 Shaker Road in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

Charles Schlipp manufactured and sold a line of metal fishing lures and pork rinds under his own name. His business was later known as Mill Run Products Company.

Charley was a self described Designer of Many Pork Rind Lures and Pork Rind Cuts. Some of his early work is seen here.

The earliest Charles Sclhipp lures were packaged in two piece cardboard boxes. An image of the lure was printed on the box top. In addition to the Charley's Crawfish Crawler box shown here, a two piece box for Charley's Silver Frog is often found.
