The Fish A-Lure Manufacturing Company made baits in Jacksonville, Florida for only a few years in the early 1960's. Among the individuals involved with the company were Jack Davis and Dennis Melvin Croft, Jr. In the 1950's Croft had operated the Blue Spring Bait Company in Marianna, Florida. Jack Davis was a lure designer who invented and patented numerous fishing lures, many of which were manufactured by Heddon. Among the Jack Davis lure patents are the designs for the Heddon Craw Shrimp, Heddon Cousin, Heddon Big Bud, Heddon Prowler, Heddon Brush Popper, and the Heddon Head Hunter. Needless to say, all of those lures achieved considerably more commercial success than the baits of the Fish A-Lure Company.
